Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Feature The Largest Map Ever

  • 21

After a new gameplay trailer for Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 was revealed earlier this week, it became clear that the game will feature a vast landscape that will contain a “range of America’s heartland and frontier” areas from the late 1800s. In a new video from PlayStation Access, which is the official PlayStation UK YouTube channel, it was confirmed that the Red Dead Redemption 2 map is not only very big, but that it might in fact even be Rockstar’s biggest game map to date.

As the video below points out, the game world in Red Dead Redemption 2 is not only the largest that Rockstar has made in terms of size, but due to the fact that one travels on horse-back for the entire game since it plays off in the 1800s, the game world feels even bigger. In other Rockstar games that also feature large maps, such as Grand Theft Auto, one has the option to travel by car or by plane, but despite these fast modes of transport, one still takes a very long time to travel from one end of the map to the other. With this in mind, one can already begin to imagine the amount of playtime that Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer in terms of the game’s size.

Because the game world is so big, and because some items, such as treasure stashes, will be harder to find in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has been offering an in-game treasure map with all the locations of the loot stashes. Unfortunately, in order to gain access to the treasure map, fans would have had to pre-order the Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Edition before August 15th.

From what Rockstar has revealed of the game so far, it is not surprising that game analysts have predicted Red Dead Redemption 2 to be one of the best selling games of 2018, and that some even claim that Red Dead Redemption 2 will redefine the video game industry. The vastness of the game’s map is just one thing that has us excited for the release of the game, which is now only a couple of months away.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Oh here we go again.

As long as there's something to do in that map, and it isn't just a giant empty space with barely any content in it, then they should stop advertising as if "Biggest thing ever" is a positive, because it's not.

The bigger the map, the more content they have to put on that map, and the majority of time most devs always resort to adding artificial and repetitive content to justify the enormous size of its playground.

I also don't want 1/3 of the time i spend on the game to be running around on a horse from point A to point B. It's nice and atmospheric when you do that first time around, but it gets extremely tedious once its novelty runs off.

the largest map ever, with the largest microtransactions ever
