REPORT SPAM ON THIS SITE

 • 6469

This thread is a tutorial on how to report spammers and offenders. This includes on the forums, site news/articles, groups, videos/images, and recent giveaway pages. If you want to report things on the AlienNetwork, read on.

WAYS TO REPORT:

Hover over the spammer's/offender's post and click the Options icon with the gear head. It'll show the option "Report". Select, and choose a reason. For spammers, select the reason spam. For offenders, select Harassamnet or Inappropriate content (whichever fits the problem at hand). You can report not only in the forums, but in the news, video, and images sections as well.

HOW TO TELL IF IT IS SPAM

The poster should have multiple links (either hyperlinks or url links like www.###.com without the hyperlink; some may be border by ) in his post or it may be entirely made of links. Greatest way to tell is that the links redirect you to somewhere not related to the topic at hand (it should be obvious). Also, if the title looks suspicious, it is most likely spam. If it's out-of-place for this site, it'll most likely be spam.

As well, any duplicated threads/posts is considered spam as well, so just press the post button once. Posting gibberish or multiple threads/news articles (in quick succession or not) that are pointless/one liners are considered spam. Necroing threads can also be considered spam, especially if you necro many threads.

CAN I ONLY REPORT SPAM?

Of course not. You can report those who post inappropriate things (NSFW images or language, out-of-context items and more), those who are harassing or intsigating arguments with others, and those who violate intellectual property. Just remember not to spam on reporting and target a specific legit user all the time.

ONCE REPORTED, NOW WHAT?

Wait and be patient. The mods/admins will come and delete the spam reported and nearby; if it isn't spam but the other three, we'll take care of the issue. Just PM one of us if necessary. Mods are (obvious to tell, but just in case):

Wiki | Memfisto | Raduhendrix | elpitayatanaphat | Starmada | adityadragoniyer | sakebreath | icklepeeker  | eraserhead1003 | OrgWithaStick | iamkarisee (Cartire is an admin, as well as others with an mod tag but don't have "Alienware-")

Also it's a request not to post one/few word responses for just the sake of replying in a thread. While responses like "congratulations" and "good luck" are understandable depending on the thread, it is advised post only if it's a well suited answer for the question or thoughtful post.

Such irrelevant posts, attacking another user/mod/admin for any reason whatsoever, trolls depending on the circumstance will be nuked without any discrimination. If anyone feels they have been wronged then feel free to PM to state your case which will be dealt accordingly.

Let us all together keep this community healthy and a good place to be part of.
Thanks.

I'd like to remind people on what can be considered spam in light of the recent surge in activity.

As well, any duplicated threads/posts is considered spam as well, so just press the post button once.
As well, posting gibberish or multiple threads/news articles/images/videos/comments (in quick succession or not) that are pointless/one liners are considered spam.

If you are being honest about spamming, do note you'll receive appropriate punishment if you spam.

Thanks in advance for trying to be conscientious about your posting habits in the forums and website.
