Hello everyone! So, after travelling for work I see that my old Alienware bought in 2015 (17 r2) got stuck in a perma boot loop. I "retired" if from gaming and I use it to type, listen music and watch some videos in my room and it works fine when it actually boots, no blue screen or anything. But sometimes (and today it got stuck once for all) this old pc keeps failing to boot, never going anywhere. It is like perma stuck until it decides do boot properly. After that, pc works. Any help is appreciated.

I'd eventually advise you to change the CMOS battery. I think after 10 years it's discharged and needs to be replaced.

thanks <mention>MaXeLL01</mention> I will look into it! I was about to open it but after it started, I figured out that I did not replenish my thermal paste since a long ago - my old alienware still great for low intensity activities so I w

If you have a tester check the battery voltage. If it's under 3v you need to replace it, a new one has a 3.3v value.

<mention>MaXeLL01</mention> I think my father got a tester for electric voltages so I might drive to his house and borrow from him but honestly my PC is quite old - considering that BIOS battery should work only when booting, it is probably

<mention>MaXeLL01</mention> got also a very good deal for a battery here where I live. Thanks man, if possible I would reward you with ARP or something, I was confused on what it could be but the rest of my hardware seems fine

What are the specs of your notebook? The CMOS battery usally is a CR2032 type, very cheap! Let me know if you solve the issue!

but thats not the end you can still use the usb boot mode if you use an enclosure for just 10$ and can extend the life.
