Share The Love and Die Trying in KarmaZoo

Ciao Alienware fans! Nadim here from Pastagames, creators of KarmaZoo; a game about helping people and finding bliss in cooperation — especially when things go wrong! We’re really proud of this philosophy, and to celebrate the launch of KarmaZoo we thought it would be fun to share more about how it works, and how it came to be.

Beginning life as a simple Blob, the first thing you’ll want to do is find some friends online. That can feel pretty daunting when you’re new, but in KarmaZoo players are rewarded for welcoming new players and helping them progress. It won’t be long before you’re able to repay their kindness by unlocking new characters and powers of your own that help solve problems for others.

So, what are these characters? Well, “Zoo” is a clue! Players can unlock over 50 playable creatures, each with special abilities that will increase your team's Karma. Players can unlock over 50 different characters from a flower pot to a wolf, so there is something for everybody. Each with special abilities! Some of them are exceptionally strong and able to remove obstacles while others can use their bodies to change the ground’s surface or shine a light to reveal secrets. From carrying team mates, attracting tasty fruits, being super fast or very loud and lots more — There’s an ability for every type of player.

The main inspiration for KarmaZoo’s altruistic animals came from emperor penguins, specifically how they work together to survive on the ice. Their willingness to share the load and keep one another safe and warm led us to see if we could recreate this experience without any one player feeling like they’re required to carry the rest of the team. We wanted to make a game focused purely on the experience of giving and receiving kindness.

While many online games avoid mixing newbies with more experienced players, KarmaZoo encourages it by rewarding the most helpful among us. Even dying is a mechanic that can help your team, but if you turn into a ghost for the rest of the level it's not the end of the world because the focus is on the success as a group. As you gain experience, you may find yourself having to lead a team of new players, but you’ll earn a lot more karma for doing so.

On the other hand, playing with a team of experienced players introduces new challenges. There are countless handmade levels in the game, and each one adapts to your team, taking into account different characters, abilities, and perks. The more varied and experienced your team is, the more varied and challenging the levels become.

But why limit yourself to helping teams of up to 10 players, when you can help players from all over the world at once? The KarmaPass is your answer! KarmaPass is a totally free community-driven initiative that allows players to pool their Karma together for the greater good. On a milestone basis, the more Karma that is earned globally, the more playable characters get unlocked for all to use simultaneously!

We hope the Alienware community is as excited as we are to connect with players around the world, across continents, platforms, and experience the joy of co-operation. You can learn more about KarmaZoo by following us @KarmaZooGame and @Pastagames on X, and visit KarmaZooGame.com to follow along with the KarmaPass unlockable progress!

KarmaZoo is available now for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch priced at $9.99.
