Squirrel with a Gun Gets an Impressive New Trailer
A new trailer has been released for Squirrel with a Gun and we are once again reminded that this is not only a legitimate game, but that it also looks like a blast! It opens with a man aptly dressed like a Bond villain who sees a squirrel through a doorway. His first reaction? To run at the squirrel with his fists raised like he’s ready for a fight, of course! To his dismay, the “Agent” as they are called, (we should assume they’re villains, right?) trips and drops his gun which lands right in front of the squirrel. The trailer then zooms into the squirrel’s face as you can see the gears turning inside his furry brain. Everything suddenly snaps into place for the squirrel and the trailer launches into gameplay of the adorable rodent awkwardly wielding and firing guns of many types and wearing different items of squirrel-sized clothing. This means that we will either have a storefront of sorts to buy different clothing items or perhaps have the chance to earn them on missions. The developers leave little details on the Steam page, only that you can “Talk with residents of the neighborhood and help them out for goodies. Or mug them for goodies.” This new sandbox game looks like a blast and the gun physics might be the best part. It looks like guns can not only be used as a weapon but also as a way to ascend and maneuver using the kickback. We see the squirrel climbing a roof with the help of an automatic weapon and doing some complicated aerials in a fight scene. The scene might have just been for theatrics, but we do see a hint at environmental changes within the game when the squirrel slows down time to take down some Agents.
The only thing better than a quirky indie with a unique idea is one with great marketing, and it looks like Daniel DeEntremont has that down. Not only was there an entire song professionally composed for the trailer, but there was also a plushie giveaway back in March of this year featuring a velcro gun to attach to either of the squirrel's little paws (hands?) You know, just in case the squirrel needs the other paw for something else! We don’t have a release date yet, but make sure to wishlist to see any additional updates for this chaotic little rodent!
