New Team-Based Game "Project Loki" PC Playtest Starts Tomorrow
“We became independent to give ourselves the freedom to take a big swing.” CEO Joe Tung introduces Theorycraft, a team of talented developers with experience working on huge AAA games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Destiny, and Halo who have formed a new studio to create an all-new team-based PvP game they have nicknames “Project Loki.” Joe describes that the game is in a very early state of play, but that they believe that the players should be involved as early as possible by “showing our work, and building a community that we’ll listen to across every stage of development.”
In the video, we see about three minutes of pretty polished gameplay for such an early alpha. There’s hero-based gameplay with four different heroes introduced, floating islands, and multiple forms of travel including gliders. In Joe’s words, “Players will assemble a squad of heroes, outplay other teams in sprawling, free-flowing battles, run the edge of a huge world in the sky, and dream up crazy strategies in a massive combat sandbox.” There looks to be powers and abilities specific to each hero which will make the team combat more interesting with every additional new hero. The team emphasizes that the game is still in very early stages and that “meta-progression, competitive features, hero concepts, environmental design, and final art are all a work-in-progress."
Interested players are able to sign up right now for the playtest on June 29th and 30th here!
