Ex-Witcher Devs Studio Touts New Isometric RPG
The Thaumaturge promises plenty of supernatural fun.

The Thaumaturge takes place in an alternate reality in 20th-century Warsaw, Poland where spirits can be summoned by occultists named Thaumaturges. Thaumaturges are the only ones who can perceive these spirits and tame them to fit their needs. This will come into play in the game’s turn-based combat system, where these spirits (with the main ones called Salutors) can deal deadly damage through a variety of move sets.
Given the RPG status, the game promises to have investigation mechanics and player choice influences for the character’s morality and problem-solving. While it’s unclear to what degree the choices you make will influence the overall campaign direction, it’s still interesting to combine that with the turn-based gameplay model.
The game is being made by Fool’s Theory, a Polish studio created (in part) by a former senior quest designer for Witcher 2, 3. The studio is currently working alongside CD Projekt Red for the Witcher 1 remake, as both games are being created in Unreal Engine 5.
You can check out the gameplay trailer here. The game will be published by 11bit, known for other popular isometrics such as Frostpunk. All in all, it seems like a promising game from a promising studio, so I’m excited!
Those wanting to see more details like gameplay pictures or to hear updates can wishlist the game on Steam.
