Time to go full Super Saiyan!

After 16 years, the fan-favorite series is getting a new installment. Dragon Ball Z fans, particularly those of the fighting games that the hit anime has spawned, showed shock and surprise at the announcement. As one Twitter user put it, "DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 4 announcement just further proves that literally anything is possible when it comes to video games.”

The game appears to still be in early development, however, the glimmer of hope for a series revival has sent many Dragon Ball Z fans into a frenzy. The news of Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has also relit conversations around Dragon Ball Z Fighterz. Announced back in 2022, Fighterz is getting a code rollback and a balancing patch this spring in beta form, with a full implementation happening at some point in Q3/Q4 2023.

You can watch the announcement trailer here, or watch the live fans' reaction video to the announcement.

It may seem exciting for certain hardcore fans but to others such as myself this seems weird and random.

Why does Budokai Tenkaichi mysteriously get another sequel but the other games aren't remastered and ported elsewhere? Additionally, why are only two out of three of the original Budokai games remastered for PS3 and Xbox 360 but not ported elsewhere? As the recent unrelated entries, they're following a similar format by retelling the events from the show and mixing it up with original content to maintain innovation. But again, it's still weird that we don't get the predecessors to add further context than just one game.

As a DBZ fan, I don't want to feel emptyhanded or as if I've already played the same game...again.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, this game announcement has me unreasonably excited. I can't wait to relive all my nostalgia and to wreck or be wrecked in multiplayer mode!

I love DB games and it's animes as well. It's going to be the first time I'll going to play a budokai tenkaichi game series tho, 'cause I'm more pc player than console player. Having said that, I've played a lot of DB Fighterz (just unlocked all achievements as well), so I hope to enjoy my first entry into DB BT series, when it get released on PC (Steam I hope).
