Mafia can again be bought online, just without licensed music

  • 26

The original Mafia from 2002 could be legally acquired in digital shape at various places all until 2012. But, how usual happens to be, due to the loss of licensed music rights, the game had to be removed from Steam and other services for the distribution of digital PC games. It seemed how mafia because of that will be forgotten, but the rescue after all came yesterday.

Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is now available again on GOG, with the compromise that in the game you will no longer hear the music. More precisely said, you will not hear any radio music or licensed songs of the performers, but the original compositions are still there. The price of the game is set at 9.99 euros.

A quick search on the GOG forum will provide you with download links for the missing sound files.

If you still have the original retail copy or the Steam version you can extract the missing files and

copy them into the GOG version.

Mostly it's the publisher's fear of copyright trolls which creates such awful situations. I won my

copyright dispute on YouTube for Mafia and my video clip has Django Reinhardt's original music.
