Survival horror game, Daymare: 1998, has a release date

Daymare: 1998 is a new survival horror game coming from indie studio, Invader Studios. The game was originally planned as a Resident Evil 2 remake, before Capcom had any plans of remaking the game themselves. In the meantime Capcom released the remade RE2 to critical acclaim from both critics and fans so Invader Studios had to cancel their plans and refocus their efforts on making an original game:

The studio was originally set up by group of friends and professionals who share common ideas on game development and are united by the passion for the survival horror genre (and the games of the Resident Evil series in particular).

At that time, the studio worked on “Resident Evil 2 Reborn”, an unofficial remake of Capcom’s 1998 classic – which has drawn more than 1 million views on YouTube in few weeks. The project was interrupted when the official Resident Evil 2 remake was announced in 2015, but Invader Studios received an invitation from Capcom Ltd. to visit their headquarters in Osaka, Japan.

You can watch the new trailer below:

The game's main features:

  • Multi-character POV – see the story from different angles and discover the truth
  • Dreadful enemies – rendered in detail with lifelike animations and dismemberment
  • Realistic HUD – check inventory, health and position on a special piece of gear
  • Environmental puzzles – finding your way is not always easy, look for clues
  • Classic mechanics - limited ammo and save points, backtracking, collectibles, tough enemies and more
  • Modern graphics and effects – not all is classic thanks to Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience 90s – homage to the era with tons of references
