HacknoSensei

Hello everyone I've buy an Alienware graphics amplifier with an RTX 2080ti to play on my Laptops Alienware 17 R4 with a 4K display. My problem is the really low performance at 4K (Final fantasy XV at 4K 30-40 fps) basicly 70-80 on Rtx 2080ti benchmark. I have to change the basic power supply of my amplifier ?? (460w) to upgrade to (650w min) for my Palit Rtx 2080 ti ?? Or does it bottleneck and i can't do anythink ??

My specs :

I7 7700HQ

16 GO DDR4

512GO SSD

3840x2160 Display screen

[External specs] :

Alienware Graphics amplifier

Power suply 460 W

Palit RTX 2080ti 11GO GGDR6

Howdy HacknoSensei,

Two things, is it performing better than it does without the GA attached?  And, have you tried another benchmark such as 3DMark to see if you see the same behavior?  There will be a performance hit due to the PCIe bus transfers, but it shouldn't be anywhere near 50%.

If the answer to both is "no," it is possible that your GA is not working properly.  Make sure to follow the instructions when setting up the GA, to make sure that it works.  You can also try to use an external monitor to see if you notice a difference in performance.  Good luck!
