Dead Maze, a hit-and-run 2D isometric massively multiplayer game with zombies

  • 943

Dead Maze is a 2D MMO game from Atelier 801 set in a destroyed contemporary world, filled with zombies. Atelier 801, a game studio based in France is best known for developing Transformice. Dead Maze went free to play since its launch on February 13th 2018.

Unlike other zombie survival games out there, you can’t take the fight on your own. In order to survive, you need to work in a team and explore what is left of the world after the zombie apocalypse, monitor your health and food, scavenge for resources, and craft as many life-saving supplies as possible.

The animations aren’t the best and the overall graphical quality is pretty basic.

The game allows you to acquire more than 500 different weapons, and just about anything you can pick up can be turned into a weapon.

Dead Maze focuses on a hit-and-run, party-style combat system, where the hordes are so large you have to move fast and work with your team to clear out an area and then get out before the rest of the horde catches up with you.

While the game sounds interesting and reviews are mostly positive, there is a growing portion of gamers that think otherwise. The identified issues are the following:

  • repetitive and no content, apart from the storyline;
  • no tutorials, apart from the short introduction;
  • limited inventory space;
  • weapons breaking fast;
  • no minimap, literally a dead maze;
  • slow paced;
  • poor dialogues;
  • bad optimization;
  • poor chat UI; some users reported that it may be copied from Transformice.

The good news is that the game is updated regularly. The latest patch, which was on February 22nd, improved sever performance and some cosmetics.

Below are some screenshots of the game:
